Pernel Fruitworld is a tourist complex based on a family owned 33 hectare orchard in the heart of the "Fruitbowl of New Zealand". The Orchard was established in 1936 by the present owners' father with approximately 12,000 trees grown encompassing 87 varieties. These include a wide range of apples grown for export, plus pears and stonefruit (apricots, peaches, nectarines, plums etc.) grown for sale in our own shop and the local market.

The Tourist Complex was opened in October 1997 to provide International and Domestic visitors with a "hands on" experience of a working orchard. For many people their visit to us would be the first time that they would have directly experienced how fruit is grown on a commercial basis. Just seeing the thousands of fruit on the trees during the harvest season is a sight to behold.

We offer our clients:

• A guided Orchard Tour on our unique apple wagons.
• The opportunity to pick a piece of fruit during the harvest season. (January to May) while on the tour.
• Informative video showing a full range of year round orchard activities.
• Fruit Tasting as part of the tour to experience the sweet, luscious flavours of many varieties of apples, pears and stonefruits.
• Souvenir and Gift Shop stocked with a wide variety of quality products linked to fruit and New Zealand.
• Licensed Cafe serving delicious lunches, morning and afternoon teas, many with a fruit theme.
• Fruit Shop selling a wide range of fruit and produce, also real fruit ice creams.
• Many exciting photo opportunities.
• All in all, an experience not to be missed.

Sunday: 10.30am, 2pm
